One Fine Stay

So tonight, while lying in bed I am dreaming of a holiday in NYC. Notice I said dreaming . . .not planning.

After our last experience we don't travel further than the Sunshine Coast now. . . and even then, we stop half way for 2 killer pythons, 2 chuppa chups and 2 bottles of apple juice.

In this NYC dream holiday of mine there are no kids which means no highchairs, no porta-cots, no dummies, no bottles, no bed-rails and definitely no buzz lightyear.

In this NYC dream I have allocated large amounts of time alone for shopping, eating, showering, reading the paper and wandering the streets carrying only my things! Call me selfish . . .that's okay, I won't judge you.

Tim can come with me . . .but if he asks me to hold anything, wipe anything, pick anything up, or fetch anything . . he will be cast aside from my dream holiday VERY quickly.

While working on the internet I found this site.  And it is so appealing. I'm sure Lily Vanderwoodsen would have time for a skinny flat in my Upper East Side apartment if it looked like this!

I'll let One Fine Stay tell you more. Check out the site if you have a  moment and come back and tell me your dream spot!
onefinestay gives you the chance to stay in someone's place while they're out of town. You get to live their life for a few days and nights.
Booking a stay is as easy as booking a hotel room. And there's service to match.
Nobody wants to be a tourist, so our homes come with recommendations from the people who live in them. For everything else, we're here 24/7.

Hugo's Christening

It's all show & tell here at LCA.
Here are some beautiful photos of a Christening I styled just after Christmas.
Hugo & his parents live in Hong Kong and were in Australia on holidays so it was all very well- timed & busy!
The colour combination of cornflower blue, white & green was nice for a little boy I think.
Congratulations Hugo, good luck with your soon to be big brother role . . .I hear it's a tough one!

Blue, White & Pink Kitchen Tea

I'm very happy to share some Kitchen Tea images today!

I styled the party for my friend Gillian- the upcoming Bride!

A few guests were keen to try my Nannie's Coconut Ice recipe, so here it is!

Coconut Ice
(makes 54 pieces)

Cooking time 5 mins

250g Copha
750g icing sugar, sifted
1 cup condensed milk
255g desiccated coconut
65g shredded coconut
1 Tbs lemon juice
1 Tsp vanilla extract
4-5 drops pink colouring
1.5 Tsp rosewater

Lightly grease a 28cm x 18cm lamington tin with canola oil. Heat the copha in a small saucepan over med-low heat until just melted. Place the icing sugar, condensed milk and desiccated & shredded coconut in a bowl. Add the copha and stir until smooth. Add the lemon juice and vanilla extract and combine (you will have a stiff paste). Place a thrid of the mixture in a separate bowl and stir in the food colouring and rosewater. Coconut ice begins to set quickly, so work fast! Spoon half the white mixture into the prepared tin and use a palate knife or back of a large, flat spoon to press down until even. Evenly spread the pink mixture on top, then the remaining white mixture and allow to stand for about 1-2 hours or until set. Use a lightly oiled cutter to cut into desired shape.

And enjoy your delicious treats!

Little Jack's Room

You've no doubt picked it up already . . . I am a big fan of decorating spaces for children. Jack's Mum has asked for ideas for his room in their new house.

Jack's theme coudn't be better : a little country, a little preppy.
Game on. Bring it home.

Jack now owns the red chair . . . he bought it from my shop in the sale. Clever boy. Picture 2.

He wasn't a fan of the chinese people picnicing in the garden (are all males the same!?) so I've had a cushion made for him in a preppy blue & white stripe. Picture 1.

And then this 'Polo' throw cushion for on top, piped in black and white ticking.

Wear your collar up buddy . . . All Players Welcome.

And the floral wallpaper is a new addition to our house. When I saw it finished I had a rush of emotion . . similar to when Henry & Alice were born. That is the truth.

More photos later when the room is finished. (Don't you hate bloggers that do this ... same. At least I didn't use the words sneak peak. . . . how irritating. And pineapples . . .enough already, they irritate me too!
